The ECCLES COIT FAMILY FOUNDATION (“ECFF”) makes grants to nonprofit organizations that promote the care and stewardship of the natural world, animal welfare, education, health care and the delivery of social services to disadvantaged people. The Foundation makes grants primarily in the Pacific Northwest.
Protecting the lands, waters, and wildlife that sustain us, and nurturing deeper connection to the natural world.

We consider organizations working within the following focus areas:
We consider requests for program support and expansion, challenge/matching grants, capacity building and general operating support. We do not support individuals, foreign organizations or lobbying efforts.
The Foundation does not accept unsolicited proposals. If you believe your organization aligns with the Foundation’s mission, please submit a letter of inquiry (see below). Each spring, the Board reviews all LOIs and either approves them for funding or invites selected organizations to submit a brief proposal describing how they would use the grant. Because the Foundation uses a streamlined application process, additional documentation is rarely required, though first-time applicants may be asked to provide financial information.
March 15th
By March 15, invited letter of inquiry (“LOI”) submissions in our online grants management portal are due (and additional documents if requested). Please request an amount when submitting your LOI.
June 1st
By June 1, grantees will be notified if their request has been approved (many are in fact approved based only on LOI submissions), will be advancing in the process, or is denied.
October 15th
By October 15, grantees who were asked to submit a full proposal will be notified of the Foundation’s funding decisions.
October 31st
By October 31, all grants will be paid.
